OpenFOAM on macOS

OpenFOAM 12 is a major new release of OpenFOAM.  It is packaged for Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04 and 24.04.  In the past, we provided a Docker container with Ubuntu and OpenFOAM, which could run on the macOS and Window OS.  However, OpenFOAM runs within macOS using Canonical Multipass hosting Ubuntu Linux. (Similarly, OpenFOAM runs within Windows using its Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) hosting Ubuntu Linux.)  The new approach with Multipass and Ubuntu packages will automatically use packages for arm64 architecture with Apple Silicon, giving best performance.

Therefore to install OpenFOAM on macOS, follow OpenFOAM for macOS
