OpenFOAM & ParaView 5.10

ParaView 5.10.1 has been packaged for Ubuntu Linux with the official reader module for OpenFOAM data with the package name paraviewopenfoam510.  Version 5.10.1 includes  Mesa with LLVM/Gallium acceleration, which provides software rendering for systems without a graphics card (or supported graphics card).  The paraviewopenfoam510 pack has been released, along with updates to the openfoam-dev and openfoam10 packs, for the following versions of Ubuntu Linux, x86-architecture:

  • 20.04 LTS, codename focal
  • 22.04 LTS, codename jammy
  • 22.10, codename kinetic

Installing ParaView 5.10.1

ParaView 5.10.1 is installed by upgrading an existing openfoam10 or openfoam-dev pack.  For example, to update openfoam10, simply open a terminal and enter the following commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --only-upgrade openfoam10

Otherwise, ParaView 5.10.1 comes as standard with a new installation of the openfoam10 or openfoam-dev packs for the Ubuntu versions above, as described in Download v10 | Ubuntu.
